Animal abuse in India is a serious issue, with countless animals enduring cruelty, neglect, and abandonment. Many face beatings, starvation, and inhumane treatment, often for entertainment, illegal trade, or superstition. Stray animals are left to survive harsh conditions, while others suffer intentional harm. Weak enforcement of animal protection laws and lack of awareness worsen the problem, leaving these vulnerable creatures without justice or care. The physical and emotional trauma they endure highlights the urgent need for compassion, action, and stricter laws to break this cycle of suffering.

  • Mohnish – 42

    Hello my name is Mohnish and I’m a feeder and rescuer from Mumbai. I handle 9 areas in Andheri West i.e. feeding approx. 80, medical cases and sterilizations all by myself. I also pick kittens and pups and work on their adoptions via my Instagram and FB accounts. In addition to this also supporting 4 feeders in chawls feedings 100+ cats daily without fail.

    It’s been a difficult year as adoptions have been slow and my foster expenses are now almost 3.9L

    Please do consider chipping in so I can clear some of the foster bills and be able to pick many more animals.

    I started by feeding biscuits to stray dogs outside my office building i Andheri E in 2014. After that’s started feeding them rice. Was taking care of all 20 dogs along with their medical treatment. Thanks after covid, my office gave work from home due to lockdown. I requested my friend Aarti who is also feeder to feed my dogs and i used to pay her for food.

    From corona times i started feeding dogs nearby my house in Jankalyan Nagar, Malad West. Today I feed 70 dogs daily and take care of their medical treatment.

    I’ve been feeding stray dogs for 10 years, starting with a few in my area and now caring for over 200. My family and I cover all expenses, and they help me whenever I’m busy.

    I also ensure the dogs receive necessary medical care and have adopted several to provide them with loving homes. My goal is to raise awareness for the humane treatment of strays and inspire others to help, whether through feeding, fostering, or adopting.
